Yes, they are no exceptions as women always try to ensure that they are captured at their best while facing the camera. It is seen that more than half of the women try to turn a particular way when they have a camera in front of them.

A truly beautiful face is the one that is perfectly symmetrical. The shape of the eyes, the lips and the curve of the cheekbones should be identical to attain the aesthetic perfection. A recent research conducted on 1000 women stated that they preferred to be photographed from their right hand side. According to them, they preferred right over the left because of their hair style, their nose or even to avoid a scar or a pimple.

The recent selfie culture has always exerted pressure on women to look at their best. They feel strongly about not showing their bad side that they even panicked when taken a picture off-guard from the left. Another survey conducted by an online dating company revealed that 23% women said that their right side was better than their left. Closer look at celebrities’ selfies often revealed a habit of putting their right cheek forward and they always tried to click picture from the right hand side.

The scientific reason behind it

The brain controls the nervous system and the facial muscles that allow us to communicate and express emotion. Split into two halves, the left hemisphere has control over our right side and vice versa. The left portion of the brain is accountable for detail and analysis while the right deals with imagination and emotions. Displaying the left side of the face may reveal more about your internal feelings, which women usually prefer to avoid in the public eye. This also explains why women prefer to use their right side to take selfies.

Another most important point is that ninety percent women are right handed and this affects everything from facial muscles to applying cosmetics better on one side of the face.   According to a leading cosmetic surgeon in Harley Street, people who are right handed have a better muscular development on that side which leads to the preference of that side – in this case it is the right.

Thus, it can be concluded saying that women always try to be sure that they look good before the camera and pose for their more flattering side – the Right side.
