Help Your Child Make Positive New Year Resolutions

Moving from 2016 calendar to 2017 is the best time for children to make New Year’s resolutions. This tradition of promising to do or follow few things rigorously is an old age tradition and people usually vow to follow some new set of good rules that can change or affect their lives.

Resolution

It is an opportunity when parents can discuss with their children where they need improvements so that they can lead a happy and better life in the coming year. It helps children to shoulder bigger responsibilities, lead a healthy life and most importantly become more organized, disciplined and punctual in life.

In this blog I will share with you some important New Year resolution ideas that you can help your child to make according to their age.

Toddlers or Preschoolers:

Parents also play a great role in helping their children to set New Year’s resolutions for kids. Making resolutions together can be exciting and fun and is also a great opportunity to grow, change and bond with the family. For parents, it may be a bit difficult to make their little toddlers understand the meaning of taking vows. So let’s keep it simple and make them understand how to change their behavior and certain aspects that they can improve upon. From convincing your little one to try new foods to potty training, there are various things that can help your child to become mature socially.

I resolve to..

  • Keep the toys clean and place them where they belong.
  • Brush my teeth twice a day, once in the morning and once before going to bed.
  • Break the bad habit of putting things into the mouth and biting nails.
  • Cut down on chips and chocolates and try to eat a balanced diet with new foods introduced at times.

5-10 years old kids:

Quitting bad habits can be really tough, but with little encouragement for parents, young kids can learn more about will power and determination. It is your duty as parents to teach them the good qualities and values in life that will become invaluable in the years to come. Show your patience and help them to change their behavior.

I resolve to

  • Improve academic habits, which mean that she should aim to change her studying habits and make a routine to deal with every subject, complete homework or projects on time and increase the study time for higher grades.
  • Keep personal information secret and never disclose it to anyone else without the permission of parents. Never send picture or chat with anyone on the computer without mom or dad’s knowledge.
  • Take care of physical health and follow a daily exercise routine. Spend some time getting involved in physical activities like playing tennis or dancing or any other sports activity.
  • Another great New Year resolution for kids can be quitting the habit of watching TV too much. Limit the session to an hour every day and help them to follow it strictly as this will help them to have more time for other activities in life.
  • Eat healthy food and cut down on soda. Help your kids to cut down on sugary food items and caffeinated drinks and beverages. Help them substitute it with healthy food so that your child gets a balanced diet to keep them to remain healthy.

I hope the above suggestions will help you and your kids to make great New Year’s resolutions that are easy to make as well as easy to follow throughout the year.
