Choosy Choice

This is a little choosy, but only a little.

One morning Amit bought a paan from a paanwala and gave him a fifty paise coin. Since the cost of the paan was 25 paise, Amit had to take back 25 paise. The paanwala said to him, “Sir, I do not have a 25 paise coin with me. But if you give me a one rupee note, I shall return 75 paise.”

How could that be? Can you guess?

Answer:

The paanwala must be having 3 paise coins. And he could pay thus: 25 coins of 3 paise each or 3 coins of 20 paise each and 5 coins of 3 paise each.
